Setup
Install the app from Shopify, configure it in Admin, enable the app embed in Theme Editor, and add the RecentView block to the desired supported templates.
The core setup uses Shopify’s Theme App Extension with an app embed and app block. You do not need to edit theme code for the standard install path.
On Product, Home, Collection, and Cart Online Store templates.
No. Checkout is not a supported placement.
Theme & Customization
Theme Match samples relevant surrounding theme styling and applies scoped styling to the app block so the widget can sit closer to nearby theme elements without rewriting the theme globally.
Yes. You can use Theme Match, choose a style preset, or configure custom styling such as colors, spacing, radius, image ratio, shadows, padding, borders, badges, and arrows.
Yes. When Sync is turned off, individual Theme Editor blocks can use their own settings.
With Sync ON, Theme Editor blocks follow the settings configured in the app. With Sync OFF, each block can keep its own settings for that placement.
Shopper History
In the shopper’s browser localStorage on the Online Store.
No. Shopper accounts are not required for recently viewed history.
No. Shopper recently viewed history is not stored in the app database.
No. Because history is browser-side, it does not sync across devices.
It moves to the front of the list and duplicates are removed.
Product Display
Display count is subject to the active plan limit. Current configuration: Free — 50, Starter — 5, Growth — 50.
Yes. You can hide the product currently being viewed so it does not appear in the section on product pages.
Yes. When there are no recently viewed products to show, the section can be hidden.
Billing
Yes. Free is for development stores only. Live stores require a paid plan (Starter or Growth) before product features work.
Starter is $3.99 per month and Growth is $7.99 per month, based on the active billing configuration.
Paid plans use Shopify Billing.
Privacy & Data
The app does not request customer read scopes for this functionality. Shopper recently viewed history stays in the browser.
The app does not request order read scopes.
The app stores merchant/shop session, settings, and billing data needed to run the embedded admin app. Shopper recently viewed history remains in browser localStorage and is not written to the app database. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Compatibility
The app is built around Shopify’s Theme App Extension and supported Online Store templates. Theme Match is designed to help the widget fit the surrounding theme, while individual themes may require placement or styling adjustments.
